What housework!!??

So today is Friday. It is without a doubt my favourite day of the week. I'm not sure how it happened but I inadvertently decided that Friday would be my housework day. This morning whilst chipping dried weetbix off the ceiling (breakfast accident) it occurred to me that I was about to spend my most favourite day doing my least favourite thing! So I cleaned the rest of the kitchen, felt mildly satisfied then went upstairs to spend the rest of the day scratching away at wild beasts, see above. Great Friday!

sneak a peak

Can't wait to get my new Chrissy card range back from the printers, here's some pics of the works in progress... hmm they do look a little like upside down cake pops here, (not the ones I baked though, they looked more like a landslide). Stand by for photos of the finished product - the cards, not the cake pops! For more info head over to www.rookart.com.au

What is Scraperboard? (or Scratchboard)

Thought I'd blog about this little question, since I get asked so often. What is Scraperboard? Well it's basically white ivory board with a thick black coating on top which you scratch away - hence the name! This very old medium is starting to regain some popularity in art stores who sell a lot of childrens packs, they come in many varieties and normally with a small wooden scratch tool. If your child is old enough, purchase some proper scratchboard tools as they will get a much better result and not give up so easily.

If you are looking for a more polished result, you are better off purchasing the real deal in large sheets. There are many artist quality scraperboards around but you probably won't find them in your local art supply store.

happy scratching

Sydney Art Expo 2012

Well worth the crazy rush to get there, the Sydney Art Expo in Hordern Pavillion was a fabulous experience! If you are undecided about showing in an Expo I wouldn't recommend making your decision 1 week before the event opens! All in all I had fun, learned a lot, met awesome people and sold my art to lovely expo visitors, thanks for coming by folks. See more www.rookart.com.au
